First CS session of the course. Taught variables, constants (why named constants are used) and the fact that input() always returns a string. Built Code Lab task "Name badge" (P02): she wrote the whole program unprompted, then found and fixed four bugs herself under guided questioning — missing input() on the age line, missing f prefix on the output string, two redundant print statements duplicating the input prompts, and "your are" for "you are". 13 runs to green, 2/2 tests. Started "Adding VAT": arithmetic operators and int() introduced, not finished. Code Lab practice run lab-mtrbzkoz could not be logged — source cs_code_lab is not registered for this subject (parent action).
Finish Code Lab "Adding VAT" (constant + int()), then arithmetic operators incl. DIV and MOD (P08). Open with retrieval on input()/int() and the named-constant justification.
| Topic | Name | Change | Evidence recorded |
|---|---|---|---|
| P02 | Not started → Developing | Code Lab 'Name badge' solved 2/2 after 13 runs, 7 Sep: wrote a working input/output program using named variables; all four fixes came from guided questioning, no independent check yet | |
| P14 | Not started → Developing | Code Lab 'Name badge' 7 Sep: used input() with a prompt and print() with an f-string correctly; needed prompting to remove prints duplicating the input prompts | |
| P08 | Not started → Not started | Introduced + - * / and int() on 7 Sep via the VAT task; stated she has never done arithmetic in Python before. Not yet attempted independently |
