Paper #9 CS section: 4/10 over 4 questions, 8 min against a 10-min guide. Q14 hex and binary 3/3 (E6→230 via the bit pattern then place values, working written; 01011101→5D), 5 min. Q13 print(10/4) 1/1: 2.5, not integer division. Q12 binary to decimal 0/1: the five correct place values picked and the adding line written (128+64+16+4+2) but summed as 204, not 214 — the 'show the working' habit appeared unprompted, the arithmetic did not hold. Q15 Python from REPEAT…UNTIL pseudo-code (5 marks): typed 'skip', 0 min, with 15 min unused — a day after Code Lab 'Translate the pseudo-code' was completed. 1 not attempted, 5 marks.
Thursday's CS block opens as set 13 Oct (5 min cold: while True sentence, 2-mark why-hex, three pseudo-code lines; then the REPEAT…UNTIL trace table on paper, owed since 6 Oct). Add from paper #9, before the trace table: on paper, the first two lines only of a Python translation of a REPEAT…UNTIL-with-input algorithm (counter = 0, while True:) in two minutes, no checklist — the first line she would not type under the clock. Binary-to-decimal: the adding line now comes unasked (Q12), so the owed item changes to 'add it twice' — one conversion where she re-adds before writing the answer. Hex→decimal: she goes via binary and gets it right; show 14×16+6 once as the shorter route, not a re-teach.
