What happened

Owed work from 2 Oct finished with 0 blanks: both angle reasons named unprompted; a minus-bracket equation had invalid working until reworked, then a fresh one was solved unaided with every line valid. Ran 09:21-10:33 on the new-topic block; no new topic opened. All non-calc, typed. Q1 rule for two angles across a crossing, diagram only, no frame -> 'veritcally opposite angles meaning they are the same' (right name, cold, 3 days after the correction). Q2 two-step, 62 above the top parallel, x below the lower one, 'give a reason for each stage' -> vertically opposite then corresponding, x = 62: 2/2 reasons named, no degree sign, not as 'are equal' sentences (11 min). Q3 L-shape 10 by 8 with 6 by 5 missing, 'show your working, state the units' -> 8*10 = 80, 6*5 = 30, 80 - 30 = 50, '50cm*2' correct. Q4 integers for -3 < n <= 2 -> -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 correct. Q5 7 - 2(x+3) = 4x - 11 -> '7 - 2x + 6 = 4x - 11, 2x + 6 = 4x - 4, 2x = 4x - 4, 2x + 4 = 4x, 4 = 2x, 2 = x': answer right, lines 1-2 invalid, errors cancelled. She disputed the marking and asked for a computed check; a substitution table (x = 2 in each line) was shown. Then -2 x +3 -> '-6'; line 1 rewritten correctly with the old lines re-appended; 2-minute break 09:57; 7 - 6 -> 1; line 2 '1 -2x = 4x - 11' correct, old lines re-appended again; open ask how to remove -2x not answered; either/or (+2x or -2x) -> '2x'; '1 = 6x - 11' (6 min), then '12 = 6x, 4 = 2x, 2 = x'. Q6 dice 12 rolls, 4 sixes, why the estimate may be unreliable -> too few rolls, correct (7 min). Q7 fresh, no hints: 9 - 4(x+1) = 2x - 13 -> '9 - 4x - 4 = 2x - 13, 9 - 4x = 2x - 9, 9 = 6x - 9, 18 = 6x, 9 = 3x, 3 = x', 6/6 lines valid (13 min; block ended during it). 7 set, 7 attempted, 0 blank; 6 right first time with valid working. Not run: unlabelled estimated mean, show-that recurring decimal, end re-ask of the rule, the inequalities teach. Session 65's unfinished work completed.

Planned next

Open with three no-notes questions, one per message: write the rule for two angles across a crossing (G3); expand 5 − 3(x + 2) only (A17); show that 0.4545… = 5/11 with no cue (N10); then one estimated mean with units not mentioned (S4). Then the new topic, solving inequalities (A22, with the error-interval notation, N15): a worked example beside the matching equation with her writing each line, a say-back, two guided items, then four on her own. If a line of her working is wrong, ask for only the next line, not the whole chain again; on a stall give an either/or.

What this session changed

TopicNameChangeEvidence recorded
G3Developing → SecureOwed 4th exit-ticket item, no hints, non-calc: two-step 62° → x = 62, 'first use vertically opposite angle on x. Then we use corresponding angles' — 2/2 reasons correctly named unprompted. Exit ticket now 4/4 values unaided (54, 123, 124 on 2 Oct; 62 today). Rule for angles across a crossing written cold, no frame, 3 days after the correction ('veritcally opposite'). Meets the bar set on 2 Oct: 2/2 named reasons on one two-step item.
G14-G16Developing → DevelopingMixed round Q3, non-calc, unaided, question stated 'Show your working. State the units': L-shape 10 by 8 with 6 by 5 missing → '8*10 = 80, 6*5 = 30, 80 - 30 = 50', '50cm*2'. Correct; missing lengths 6 and 5 found unprompted; 3 working lines and units present.
A22Developing → DevelopingMixed round Q4, non-calc, unaided: integers for −3 < n ≤ 2 → '-2, -1, 0, 1, 2', 5/5 values, strict and inclusive ends read correctly. Solving inequalities still not taught.
A17Exam-ready → Exam-readyMixed round Q5, non-calc, 'you must show your working': 7 − 2(x+3) = 4x − 11 → six lines, answer 2 right, but line 1 '7 - 2x + 6' (sign) and line 2 '2x + 6 = 4x - 4' invalid; a valid chain only after 5 prompts, incl. an either/or to remove −2x. Fresh item unaided at the end: 9 − 4(x+1) = 2x − 13 → six valid lines, x = 3.
P4-P5Secure → SecureMixed round Q6, non-calc, unaided: dice rolled 12 times, 4 sixes, 'explain why the estimate may not be reliable' → 'the estemat is not reliable because the amont of roles is not big enoph'. Correct small-sample reason, 14 days after the last sample-size item (21 Sep).
P2-P3Secure → SecureSame item as P4-P5 today (Q6): a relative-frequency estimate of 1/3 from 12 rolls criticised as too few rolls, unaided, 1/1 — the estimate-wording question owed after a gap (last check 22 Sep, 13 days).
